AI speed is novelty.
Context is enterprise alpha.
We are in the “wow” phase of AI: everything feels faster, cleaner, magical. That phase is real, and it matters. But it is not the moat.
As of February 2026, AI can already remove huge amounts of grunt work from investment operations. It can summarize docs, structure memos, compare files, and draft outputs in minutes. That shift is valuable, but temporary as differentiation. Soon, this becomes table stakes.
A decade ago, running on-prem databases signaled technical maturity. Today, avoiding modern cloud infrastructure often signals the opposite. AI in Excel, docs, and workflow tools will follow the same curve. The next generation of operators is already AI-native. For them, these tools are not futuristic. They are defaults.
What does not commoditize
The real moat in enterprise AI is context: firm history, decision rationale, IC preference memory, and feedback loops from real operators. Models are powerful, but generic by design. Every provider has a distinct flavor, and those flavors will keep converging in raw capability. What will separate outcomes is how well your AI is grounded in your data and your way of operating.
Humans are not removed. Roles are redefined.
The end state is not “no humans in the loop.” It is humans in higher-leverage loops. Over time, AI will execute more of the pipeline while people increasingly review, reconcile, and sign off. In high-stakes environments, accountability does not disappear. It concentrates.
We are moving toward a society of AI auditors and reconcilers. The winners will be organizations that make review efficient, trustworthy, and source-cited by default.
Why this matters for REMI
REMI is not built as an autopilot that asks teams to surrender control. It is built as an intelligence layer that captures institutional memory, performs the slow work, and returns decisions to humans with citation trails. CITE. REVIEW. FEEL.
If 90% of firm memory lives in existing systems and 10% lives in people, the mandate is clear: connect the 90%, extract the 10% through workflow-native UI, and let AI learn how your firm actually thinks. That is how AI stops being a faster calculator and starts becoming the mind of the organization.
